Hello my crafty friends!   Living in New England, specifically CT, means the summer winds down and Autumn is near.  It is just GAW-JUS!!!  This 2017 Holiday catalog from Stampin’ Up! has so many delightful new sets.    With this fabulous Autumn weather, I just can’t jump into the winter scenes just yet.   Take a look at the Painted Harvest Stamp Set from the new Holiday Catalog found on page 48.

Item #144783 Painted Harvest photopolymer stamp set by Stampin' Up!

This set is a two-step stamp which means each flower has 2 layers.  You use the larger flower to the left first in a lighter shade, next use the flower image on the right in a darker hue and voila~!  You have an amazingly beautiful Autumn sunflower that looks hand painted!  There are two types of leaves included with this set.   They are also a two step process if you choose.   Fern-like leaves on the left and the trio of leaves on the right.   The leaf trio has a coordinating  punch which makes adding a bit of greenery quick and easy!

Check out these cards I made over the weekend using this stamp set and leaf punch.

First I cut watercolor paper and taped it down to some card board.  After that, I wet the watercolor paper down pretty well.   Next I used my ink pads and gave them a little “squeeze”.   That creates a puddle of ink in flip top of the ink pad.    Take an aqua painter or a good ‘ol paint brush, pick up some ink and create your color wash.  For an added bit of fun, I sprinkled some salt on the wet watercolor and let dry overnight.

Tangerine Tango, Cajun Craze, Daffodil Delight, and Pumpkin Pie were my go to colors for the flowers.   I inked up the stamp spritzed it with water and gave it a good press onto the watercolor paper.   I repeated this process with both stamp layers until I liked how the flower looked.   The center of the flower is stamped with Soft Suede and Early Espresso.  Which one is your favorite?    I just love how this set captures Autumn so perfectly!    What shall I do with this set next?   Stay tuned!
